Allison Langdon in hospital after on-set accident on TODAY show

A pre-recorded segment for the TODAY show has seen one of its hosts end up in hospital and absent from today’s show

TODAY co-host Allison Langdon is in hospital recovering after a segment being filmed for today’s outside broadcast in Queensland went wrong.

The segment had been promoted as a showdown between Karl Stefanovic and Langdon on water jets. The segment was being filmed yesterday for a story to be shown this morning but plans changed when Langdon was hurt.

Vision shows Langdon being pulled to shore after the accident and the program was at pains to tell viewers that despite ending up in hospital Langdon is okay. moments earlier Langdon could be seen on the hoverboard looking confident and enjoying herself.

Leila McKinnon, who lives in Byron Bay, was called yesterday to fill in for Langdon at the Burleigh Heads beachside location.

A Nine Spokesperson told TV Blackbox:

“Ally hurt her leg after landing awkwardly during filming a story yesterday and was sent to hospital. She is expected to return home to Sydney over the weekend. We wish her well and a speedy recovery. We thank Leila McKinnon for taking a late night call to join Karl for the Today OB at Burleigh Heads.”
