Returning for a special Aussie event series, the hilariously entertaining Travel Guides premieres later this month on Nine and 9Now.

Five very different groups of Aussie travellers will again be offering their funny and distinctive perspective for holiday reviews as they journey around our great nation critiquing and exploring new destinations.

Look out, ’Straya, when our Guides take an active wellness holiday in Byron Bay, an Outback adventure through the Red Centre, go on a water wonderland holiday in the tropical Whitsundays, and embark on an action-packed trip around wintry Tasmania.

Two fresh faces are added to the Travel Guides cast for 2021: travel addicts and longtime couple Matt and Brett from Newcastle, NSW.

Matt and Brett join the returning Guides: The Fren family, twin cowgirls Stack and Mel, travel snobs Kevin and Janetta, and best mates Kev, Dorian and Teng.

Each group will travel to the same location and experience the same week-long holiday, reviewing the cuisine, accommodation, activities and local sights.

Their hilarious adventures will inspire you to travel around this great continent and make you laugh out loud as our Guides tell it how they see it and rate each holiday out of five stars.

This is the cast for the new Aussie event series of Travel Guides:

Matt (45) and Brett (51)

This couple, bona fide travel addicts from Newcastle, NSW, are new to the Travel Guides experience. Matt and Brett are seasoned travellers who have shared many adventures on holidays together. Whilst they describe themselves as high-end travellers, they also love a bargain and a discount rate.

Their travels must always include a good shopping spree and dining experience.

Kevin (63) and Janetta (69)

Self-professed “holiday snobs” Kevin and Janetta return to seek out the best accommodation, food and wine. Married for over three decades, these jet-setting retirees hate settling for anything second-rate.

This discerning duo expect the best when on holiday, and if the quality or service isn’t up to scratch, they will not hesitate to make a complaint. “We don’t suffer in silence” is their catchphrase.

The Fren Family: Mark (59), Catherine (57), Victoria (27) and Jonathon (29)

These endearing bargain hunters from Newcastle, NSW, are well equipped to cope with stressful family situations and can always find the funny side of any holiday disaster.

The Frens will stop at nothing to bag an upgrade. They are willing to try anything at least once, and they are never afraid to speak their mind.

Stack (31) and Mel (31)

These identical twin cowgirls from country NSW are a little wary when it comes to venturing anywhere beyond the Outback, but they are willing to give anything a crack.

They are competitive rodeo ropers used to roughing it and not easily impressed by fancy holidays. The girls also love a hearty meal, but if there’s no decent tucker on the menu, watch out!

Kev (28), Teng (25) and Dorian (24)

The trio of suburban Millennials used to work together at Target. They are budget travellers who are ready to leave the comforts of life at home with their parents to explore the world.

They are always quick to make fun of each other and their ideal holiday involves adrenaline-fuelled adventures (except for Dorian), hanging out in bars and eating plenty of greasy food.

Narrated by popular Aussie comedian Denise Scott, Travel Guides is produced by Nine.

  1. Absolutely love The Travel Guides especially the Fren Family, really love all them. Wish there were more new episodes on air.

  2. Stop stuffing us around and put Travel Guides back on after the tennis. Don’t delay further for your married at first site crap. If you can’t provide a sequential series to us then sell it and move on. You guys really piss me off with the way you treat your Melbourne viewing public.

    • Hi Lisa, As the remaining episodes of this season involve international travel, Nine has taken the decision to delay there broadcast due to the current travel bans, and obligations to their sponsors. I agree it’s a disappointing situation.

  3. When is the next episode to be broadcast please? The tennis should be on one channel not all 9 channels, Travel Guides could be on Gem. How about Married 1 day a week, not this saturation.

  4. Really hope this series continues, its the only thing I and my wife enjoy watching on TV anymore. Inspirational, uplifting and funny. A real, down to earth, ‘feel good’ show.
