Nine has released the full third season of Young Sheldon on 9Now – despite having only aired 7 episodes on broadcast television.
Last month, Nine revealed that the hit comedy would return this summer, but in retrospect they did not specifically say in which form.
With the amount of repeats on offer, it seems curious that Nine would not opt to screen these episodes on the main channel or across the struggling 9GO!
Nine’s integration of digital across their shows has shown some clear benefits for its viewers, as well as some confusion for those watching on broadcast.
Nine has some shows ‘exclusive’ to 9Now such as For Life, Heartbeat (starring Melissa George), Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, Shades of Blue and now season 1 of Supergirl is available on the site – a show previously seen only through Foxtel. These added shows have been a bonus for those viewers wanting new content online.
The option to screen Young Sheldon and Manifest episodes online, after previously airing first on free to air benefits those viewers wanting to see complete seasons instantly, but a let down for those viewers who traditionally have watched these shows on broadcast.
Confusingly, Nine has the rights to the US version of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, but in some cases have chosen not to screen them on any platform. One missed season of The Bachelor was picked up by Foxtel this year.
Nine still have not broadcast season 2 of Manifest on television, despite the whole season being available on 9Now.
Young Sheldon – complete season 3 on 9Now.
