Nicole Kidman thriller THE UNDOING delivers impressive audiences figures for Foxtel and Binge

The six-part HBO psychological thriller series The Undoing, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, has achieved strong audience figures in Australia on BINGE and FOXTEL since the series launched on October 26.

Since premiere, The Undoing is the most-watched show on BINGE, drawing the largest audience of any show since the streaming service launched in May.

On FOXTEL, The Undoing is now the biggest new series premiere since Big Little Lies in February 2017 which also starred Nicole Kidman. It is now the second biggest new series premiere in the past five years, delivering a weekly cumulative audience of 427k in its premiere week.

It was the number one show on the platform for both the day and week of launch and is currently the top performing show across all of FOXTEL’s on demand platforms.

In the U.S., the series is drawing strong ratings, reaching a series high audience when its latest episode premiered this week. The series’ first episode has already surpassed six million viewers and will continue to build in the coming weeks.

  • In the UK, The Undoing has proved a huge hit on Sky with audience numbers growing every week. Viewing figures so far for episode 1 are currently making it the biggest US drama launch of the year on Sky Atlantic
  • The Undoing had the best first season premiere of 2020 for HBO’s networks in Nordic and Central Europe. In addition, it was the best first season launch of all time for HBO in Denmark
  • On OCS (France), episode 1 of The Undoing wasthe second-best launch of 2020. Ratings increased by 43% for episode 2 and by a further 21% for the episode 3
  • From October 25 to date, The Undoing has ranked #1 among series on HBO GO Latin America
  • The Undoing was the #1 series watched by Crave (Canada) subscribers on streaming platforms for the week of Nov 2-8. It is also the #3 series premiere in Crave digital history for the first seven-day streams

The Undoing follows Grace Fraser (Kidman), a successful New York City therapist, and her husband Jonathan (Grant) who are living the only lives they ever wanted for themselves. Overnight, a chasm opens in their lives: a violent death, a missing spouse and a chain of terrible revelations.

Kidman, also an executive producer, joins forces with Academy Award-winning director Susanne Bier and reunites with Emmy-winning Big Littles Lies creator David E. Kelley for the six-part limited series.

Joining Kidman and Grant on screen are Edgar Ramirez (The Assassination of Gianni Versace), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Mary Queen of Scots), Matilda De Angelis (Il Premio), Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Noma Dumezweni (Mary Poppins Returns), Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place 2) as Henry Fraser, Jonathan and Grace’s 12-year-old son and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games).

New episodes of the 6 x 60-minute series premiere at the same time as the US every Monday from midday AEDT, available to stream on BINGE and watch on FOXTEL.
