In a new interview the FAMILY FEUD host reveals he knows for a fact he was already set to win before the controversial campaign kicked in
When popular host Grant Denyer won the TV WEEK Gold Logie award in 2018 many put it down to the fact comedian Tom Gleeson had started a campaign in support of Denyer.
At the time Family Feud had just been axed by Channel 10 and Gleeson, who was hosting Hard Chat at the time, thought it would be funny for the host of an axed show to win the Gold.
Now Denyer says while the stunt was very funny, it wasn’t the reason he won the Gold:
“He’ll claim fatherhood to your first born if you give him a chance”

In what can only be described as irony, Denyer appeared on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Internet Show to promote the return of Family Feud this Sunday at 7.30pm and during an interview covering his entire career, he also spoke about that controversial campign by Gleeson:
“He’s out of control. Look, he’s an absolute lunatic. I feel differently about it now than I did at the time to be honest. At the time I’d been nominated for gold, Family Feud had been axed and there was this great groundswell and love and support for the format and then he jumps on at the eleventh-and-a-half hour, hijacks my campaign – whether I liked it or not – and then just ran with it.”
But it was this nugget that took Ben Norris, David Robinson and myself by surprise;
“I know by fact that I was already leading before he even jumped on the bandwagon”
One can only assume the bosses at TV WEEK told Denyer this and it would certainly put an end to any assumption that Tom Gleeson won the gold for him.
Time has a way of revealing all secrets!
