From Kylie Minogue to Paul Kelly, Midnight Oil to Amy Shark, each week The Sound celebrates the very best of new Australian music on offer.

Joining host Jane Gazzo and music news correspondent Zan Rowe this week is special guest co-host Deborah Mailman – the 5x Logie winner famous for roles in “Offspring”, Rabbit-Proof Fence, “The Secret Life Of Us”, The Sapphires and more.

  • National treasure and ARIA winner Jessica Mauboy, who performs her new single ‘Butterfly’, filmed at Sydney’s stunning State Theatre. HILDA, her fourth album, is out now

  • Kate Miller-Heidke brings her magic to St Kilda’s Esplanade Hotel for the debut live performance of single ‘Deluded’, lifted from her first album in six years, Child In Reverse, out 30 October
  • Brisbane popsters Ball Park Music will release their new LP Ball Park Music – The Album in October. First up, they join The Sound to perform latest single ‘Day & Age’
  • Adelaide’s amazing Tkay Maidza performs her red hot new single  ‘Don’t Call Again’ ft Kari Faux. Get your ears around her new EP, Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2, out now
  • Rising star CXLOE has 22 million+ streams worldwide and just inked a deal to release her debut album via Sandlot Records (whose roster has included Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande). She performs the excellent ‘12 Steps’
  • South QLD indie electronic outfit Lastlings are a brother/sister duo who’ve remixed the likes of RÜFÜS DU SOL, in between dropping excellent tracks such as ‘No Time’. Expect their debut album in October.
  • Twenty-year-old Miiesha just won ‘New Talent of the Year’ at the NIMAs, hails from Central QLD, and is a proud Pitjantjatjara/Torres Strait Islander. Her incredible voice features on album Nyaaringu, released on CD/vinyl on 28 August. Filmed in Rockhampton, Miiesha is joined by Jeremy Marou (Busby Marou) on the uplifting ‘Twisting Words’ 
  • Our ‘Introducing’ artist this week is rising Melbourne singer/songwriter Shannen James, who drops her debut EP Arrows on 25 September . Watch her perform arresting single ‘Arrows’

If there’s a more iconic band than Brisbane’s The Go-Betweens, we don’t know it. We celebrate the songwriting of Grant McLennan and band, with a collaboration starring:

  • Acclaimed Sydney rockers Middle Kids

Lastly, catch one of Australia’s greatest bands, Hunters & Collectors, slaying the Melbourne Cricket Ground back in 2009 in the ‘From The Vault’ segment, performing at the now legendary Sound Relief charity concert.
