A new promo, which was set to premiere on 7 News tonight, has been released early on social media in what is presumably an effort to distract from the production leaks about the cast of the upcoming series.
Seven has confirmed Mat form Broken Hill, NSW will be entering the house in 5 weeks when the hotly anticipated series airs.
The network has also confirmed there will be 20 contestants competing for $250,000.
According to a short story on the 7 News website, Mat is a Mining Electrician and engaged;
- “The self-confessed sports nut says it’s a bit of a running joke that he’s Don Bradman “batting above average” with his fiancé Jess.
- Mat says he’ll bring humour, wit, smarts, ADHD energy and a “beautiful big head” into the Big Brother house.
- Mat hopes he’s a likeable guy but he’s got to keep his wits about him – it’s a game and if someone comes after him, it’s kill or be killed in Mat’s book.”
This is not Mat’s first time on television. Previously Mat Garrick appeared on the ABC’s Think Tank with Paul McDermot.
Australia, meet Mat – you’ll be seeing a lot of him in the next few months. Mat is your very first @bigbrother_au housemate. #7NEWS https://t.co/PEa66uMUGI

The reveal comes after former winner Benjamin Norris named the first three housemates on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show and TV Blackbox website.
Yesterday we named mummy blogger Zoe George. Although her blog has been inactive since December, George describes herself as;
Mother. Wife. Writer. Teacher. Funny. Honest. Energetic. Prankster. Subtle as a brick in the face.
Zoe is a mum of two children and married.
Previously, Ben also named AFL sports star-turned-influencer Daniel Gorringe and Ian W from Western Australia;
“That signature hat that you can see him wearing on the show is a bit of a talking point, a way of him getting to know people. Apparently he is a very good conversationalist and from all that I’ve heard apparently he does very well on this upcoming series”
We will have some exciting Big Brother news on Monday’s edition of The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show at 1pm AEST. Watch LIVE on Ticker TV or on our official facebook page.
