Learning From Home

Seven Queensland, in conjunction with the Queensland Department of Education is set to bring weekly school lessons directly into the homes of primary-school aged children.

The ground-breaking partnership will see age-appropriate curriculum broadcast on Seven’s free-to-air digital network, 7TWO, throughout Term 2 for Queensland students, commencing this Friday.

With conventional schooling severely disrupted by COVID-19, and students encouraged to remain at home unless their parents are essential workers, the collaboration between Channel Seven and Education Queensland will go a long way to ensuring Queensland school children continue their learning path.

State school teachers will join Seven’s lifestyle show personalities to deliver audio-visual lessons based on the Australian curriculum – for early, middle and late primary school-aged children.

Making lessons accessible via free-to-air television will be especially important to families living in regional and remote parts of Queensland, especially those with limited or non-existent on-line access.

Education Minister, Grace Grace said it was an exciting partnership: “One of the significant benefits of a free-to-air broadcast of this nature is its ability to reach into communities that have connectivity issues. Our state and national response to this pandemic is a watershed moment in our lives and is redefining the ways we learn and work. The creative partnership with Seven exemplifies that.”

Seven Brisbane & Regional Queensland General Manager, Ben Roberts-Smith, in supporting the creative endeavour said: “Seven Queensland is proud to support this Queensland Government initiative and will be partnering with Southern Cross Austereo to ensure the program reaches all Queensland communities and provides real value to young Queenslanders.”

The first episode of “learning@homeTV” will air on 7TWO this Friday 1st May 2020 from 8:30am to 10:30am. It will continue throughout Term 2 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday thereafter, excluding public holidays.
