Just when Ch9 thought they had escaped negative headlines regarding its breakfast team, a parody video has appeared over the weekend to remind us of the recent turmoil.
Created by Youtube user White Secretion, the video brings together the recently departed Deb Knight and Georgie Gardner with the new ‘it girl’ Allison Langdon in a parody of the Bombshell movie trailer.
My personal highlight from the trailer is the Sam Newman/Ossie Ostrich poster hanging in the office wall.
Ratings for the new-look Today softened in its second week on-air, but Friday was a positive with the team claiming notable wins in Sydney and Brisbane, while only narrowly losing Melbourne to Sunrise.
The next two weeks will be fascinating; the entire Today team will be broadcasting from a special dedicated studio at the Australian Open. Outside broadcasts can be tricky and often fail to provide a ratings reward. The team could be left to feel isolated if a significant news event develops elsewhere.
