Hayu Reality TV streaming service to launch on Apple TV

NBCUniversal International’s on-demand reality streaming service Hayu has announced a Q4 launch for the service on Apple TV.

In a further development for hayu subscribers, from Q4 users will be able view their favourite reality shows offline, enabling them to enjoy hayu content wherever they are – without access to the internet.

In announcing offline viewing, hayu has just taken the next step in facilitating the anytime, anywhere viewing users crave – meaning subscribers can prep to watch episodes of their favourite shows anywhere from their daily commutes to a sun-lounger on the beach.

The first all-reality service of its kind – curated and fully integrated with social media – hayu launched March in the UK, Ireland & Australia.

Hayu features over 3,000 episodes of reality content including Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its spin-offs along with The Real Housewives, Million Dollar Listing and Top Chef franchises. The majority of new episodes debut on the service the same day as their US launch with Hayu promising to add 500+ new episodes each year.

Currently available on a full array of devices (mobile, tablet, laptop) at www.hayu.com, streaming to TVs will soon be even easier for subscribers, with hayu accessible from the Apple TV App Store. 

“This latest milestone is a testament to our dual goal of growing reach and distribution while constantly innovating the hayu experience,” commented Hendrik McDermott, SVP, Branded On-Demand, NBCUniversal. “In the six months since launch, users have made it clear that they want the ability to access content wherever they are and that they crave the ability to easily stream hayu to a large screen. We are delighted to make hayu episodes available for offline viewing and be available across a broader number of platforms.”

As previously announced, hayu is also available for free to Foxtel residential subscribers, whose subscription package include the channel E! Entertainment Television,

Anyone that does not qualify for the Foxtel offer can subscribe to Hayu for $5.99 per month, beginning with a free one-month trial.
