Fox Sports will broadcast the popular and electrifying netball event, the Fast5 World Series this weekend LIVE from Auckland’s Vector Arena.
Heading into its sixth year, third consecutive in New Zealand, the Fast5 competition is known for its fun and entertaining slant on traditional netball, with shortened quarters of six minutes and only five players per side.
Each team can nominate one ‘Power Play’ quarter each match where every goal scored during the term collects double points. But that’s not the only opportunity for a big margin; if a goal is shot outside the goal ring it will earn two points and if a goal is scored from the ‘super shot zone’ three points are awarded. The modified rules create a fast and dynamic game that is exciting to watch. Runners-up to the New Zealand Ferns in 2013, the Australian Fast5 Flyers will open the tournament on Saturday, taking on the Jamaican Sunshine Girls.
Other competing teams in the international tournament are South Africa, England and Malawi. The Fox Sports Fast5 commentary team will feature former Australian netball captain Anne Sargeant and other key sporting identities.
