Thursday marks the eighth day of competition at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Twenty five Gold Medals will be decided today across 50 events in 12 sports.
This evening’s edition of Glasgow Live brings viewers Cycling, Lawn Bowls, Athletics, Weightlifting and all the Diving action from the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.
Live sport commences from 6pm AEST on ONE, with Greg Rust live from the Commentator’s Lounge for the Men’s and Women’s Road Cycling Time Trials.
Competing in the Road Cycling is 2012 Tour de France Champion Sir Bradley Wiggins from England, one of the most popular British sportsmen of the past decade. He won the Gold Medal in this event at the London 2012 Olympic Games and will be sure to draw a crowd in Glasgow.
From 7pm AEST on ONE the Diving begins with the Men’s 3m Springboard preliminary round. The Women’s 10m Platform preliminary round is from 9.05pm AEST and the finals for both are from 3.05am AEST and 4.45am AEST on TEN respectively.
The Aussie divers in action include Olympic silver medallist Melissa Wu, plus Grant Nel, Rachel Bugg and Lara Tarvit.
Don’t miss the Men’s Hockey tonight when the Kookaburras take on Scotland on home soil at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre from 11pm AEST on TEN.
In Gymnastics, four-time Delhi 2010 Gold Medallist and 2010 World Floor Champion Lauren Mitchell is among the Australians in action in the Apparatus finals from midnight AEST on TEN.
The strongest man in the Commonwealth will also be decided today in Weightlifting’s final event, the men’s 105kg+, from 12.30am AEST on TEN. Australia has the defending champion in Damon Kelly.
The Wrestling Finals commence from 1.30am AEST on TEN and the Men’s Fours Lawn Bowls Semi-Finals and Women’s Triples Finals will be on TEN from 2.30am AEST.
Early morning Glasgow Live also sees plenty of Aussies in action at Hampden Park including Olympic Champion Sally Pearson commencing the defence of her Hurdles crown in Round 1 of the Women’s 100m Hurdles from 6.35am AEST on TEN.
Also on TEN, Benn Harradine will defend his Discus title from 3am AEST, plus tune in when Gold Medal favourite Kurt Fearnley takes to the track to defend his title in the Men’s 1500m T54 final from 4.20am AEST.
