This heartwarming final episode of 2026 features Olivia Hargroder, a young actor who’s defied expectations her entire life.

Born with Down syndrome and a serious heart condition, she wasn’t expected to survive more than a few days. But 27 years later, she’s starring in her first feature film and credits her mother Kerry with helping her realise her dreams.

“She’s always believed in me”

says Olivia.

Olivia approaches every challenge with an infectious positivity. Determined to pursue her passion for dancing, she had major surgery on both knees when she was 16 and stunned her doctor with her recovery.

At the end of high school, she told her careers counsellor she wanted to be an actor and train at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA).

“He just laughed and said, ‘No, NIDA’s for the elite’”

recalls Kerry.

Undeterred, Olivia went on to graduate from NIDA’s Young Actors Studio and pursue performance. As the lead in upcoming feature film Boss Cat, her dance moves take centre stage.

“You can’t tell Olivia that something’s not achievable,” says Kerry.
