Seven Media Group has appointed the outgoing Paramount executive to lead a newly unified commercial operation spanning television, streaming and audio sport.
Seven Media Group has appointed Nick Bower as Commercial Director, Sport – TV, Audio & Streaming, bringing the senior advertising executive back to the network as part of a major overhaul of its sport sales operation.
Bower will join Seven in early 2027 and report to Chief Revenue Officer Natalie Harvey.
The newly created position unites Seven’s television and audio sport sales teams under a single leader, giving advertisers one point of access to the group’s sporting content across broadcast television, streaming, audio and digital platforms.
Bower will lead sport sales teams across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, with responsibility for maximising sports revenue and developing integrated commercial packages built around audiences and fans.
He will work closely with Seven’s Director of Sport – TV, Audio and Streaming, Chris Jones, to align commercial opportunities with the group’s broadcast and production strategies from the outset.
Bower will also work with Seven’s legal and executive teams on major sporting rights negotiations and high-level commercial partnerships.
Harvey said the consolidated sales structure reflected the way contemporary audiences consume live sport and entertainment.
“No one in Australia can put a brand inside sport the way we can,” Harvey said.
“We’ve got the big live moments, the conversation on either side of them, and the data that tells us who’s actually in the room. Nick’s the right person to bring that together and make it simple for brands to get close to the culture fans care about.
“He’s also a genuine leader. He backs his people, sets a high bar and has a team around him that’s hungry to show the market what this business can do.
“Working hand in hand with Chris Jones and his incredible production team, who bring our sport to life for millions of Australians every week, there’s no limit to what we can create for our partners. He’s got big ambitions for this, and so do I.”
The appointment marks a return to Seven for Bower, who previously spent 10 years with the network in sport sales, sponsorship and senior commercial management roles.
Across more than two decades in the industry, Bower has worked on the commercialisation of major sporting properties including the AFL, Olympic Games, Australian Open and Formula 1.
His career has also included roles as Senior Vice President of Partnerships at Football Marketing Asia, Vice President of Ad Sales and Partnerships for APAC and the Middle East at FOX Sports, and an international commercial consultancy position with True Digital Group.
Bower said Seven’s extensive sporting rights portfolio and the ability to build campaigns across television, streaming and audio had attracted him back to the business.
“Sport has an extraordinary ability to bring people together and connect brands with moments that matter,” Bower said.
“What excites me about joining Seven Media Group right now is not only their phenomenal sports rights line-up, but also the opportunity to work alongside the talented team who deliver unrivalled sports content — something I know first-hand, having spent 10 years of my career at Seven. So returning to the network is particularly special.
“Now the opportunity to connect audiences and brands across sport, television, streaming and audio — including Triple M, which I’m a fan of as a listener — opens up the most exciting possibilities to create innovative partnerships, deliver greater value for clients and drive commercial growth for Seven Media Group and its partners.”
Bower’s move follows confirmation from Paramount Australia that he is leaving after five years with the business.
He returned to Network 10 in September 2021 as Sport Sales Director before being promoted to General Manager – Ad Sales in February 2023. In that position, he led Paramount’s frontline sales team and oversaw client and agency relationships, broadcast budgets and commercial sports agreements.
His departure comes approximately seven months after former Paramount Chief Sales Officer Rod Prosser left the company following a 15-year tenure.
Prosser’s responsibilities were handed to Grant Madigan, who commenced as Vice President of Sales in May. Bower remained one of Madigan’s most senior direct reports under the new structure, overseeing Paramount’s converged national advertising sales team.
In an internal note confirming Bower’s exit, Madigan praised his contribution and leadership.
“Nick returned to 10 during the crazy days of COVID to run Sport Sales and instantly brought his energy, gold jacket and high-octane personality into not just our sales unit, but the entire business,” Madigan said.
“As a leader, Nick would literally run through a brick wall for his team.”
