NITV again locks in exclusive KOORI KNOCKOUT coverage

The Koori Knockout is returning to National Indigenous Television (NITV) for 2026, with the broadcaster securing exclusive coverage of the major First Nations rugby league tournament across the October long weekend.

A new 24/7 Koori Knockout FAST Channel on SBS On Demand will also give audiences round-the-clock access to a decade of classic matches, memorable moments and tournament history.

The tournament will be broadcast live and free on NITV and SBS On Demand from King Park Sporting Complex in Raymond Terrace, on Worimi Country, across October 4 and 5.

More than 180 teams are expected to compete in the 2026 Koori Knockout, bringing together grassroots players, families and communities alongside current and former NRL and NRLW stars.

Established in 1971, the Koori Knockout is now in its 54th year and has grown into one of Australia’s largest Indigenous sporting events.

NITV’s commentary team this year will include Over the Black Dot host Dean Widders, Brad Cooke, Dan Conifer, Timana Tahu, Bo de la Cruz and Beau Champion.

Koori Knockout 2026 broadcast details:

  • Sunday, October 4: Live coverage from 9am on NITV, SBS On Demand and NITV Facebook Live.
  • Monday, October 5: Coverage from 9am, including the men’s semi-finals, juniors, women’s and men’s Grand Finals.
  • Grand Finals: The men’s and women’s Grand Finals will air live on NITV HD and SBS On Demand.
  • Highlights and replays: SBS On Demand will replay match highlights, while selected match replays and highlights will also be available after broadcast.
  • Preview: Over the Black Dot will preview the 2026 Koori Knockout on Tuesday, September 29 at 9.30pm on NITV.
  • NITV News: Nula will broadcast live from the Koori Knockout on Friday, October 2 at 3pm on SBS and 5.30pm on NITV.

NITV’s digital and social platforms will also feature highlights, community coverage and around-the-grounds yarns throughout the weekend.

The Koori Knockout will be live from 9am on Sunday, October 4 and Monday, October 5 on NITV and SBS On Demand.
