Kayo Sports has secured an extended broadcast agreement for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, with every race to be carried live as Team Australia prepares to return to the competition for the first time in almost three decades.
The agreement between Kayo Sports, a DAZN company, and the America’s Cup Partnership covers the Preliminary Regattas, Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Selection Series 2027, America’s Cup Match 2027, Women’s America’s Cup and Youth America’s Cup.
Coverage will be available live through Kayo Sports and Foxtel, while live coverage and highlights will also be offered through Kayo Freebies and BINGE.
The deal comes as Foxtel Group prepares for a major overhaul of its sports branding in 2027, when the Fox Sports name will disappear from Australian screens and its channels move under the Kayo Sports banner.
Under that change, Fox Footy, Fox Cricket and Fox League will become Kayo Footy, Kayo Cricket and Kayo League, while the other Fox Sports channels will be renamed Kayo Sports.
The existing Fox Sports talent, journalism and production teams will remain as part of the transition.
The expanded America’s Cup agreement adds sailing to a 2027 sports offering that includes AFL, NRL, Supercars, Formula 1, cricket and US sports through ESPN.
The 2026-2027 America’s Cup season began with the three-day Preliminary Regatta Sardinia from May 22-25, 2026, with competition continuing in Naples from September 24-27.
The Challenger Selection series follows in May-June 2027, ahead of the America’s Cup Match in July 2027.
Australian interest will centre on the return of Team Australia, which is challenging for the trophy for the first time in almost three decades.
Its campaign is being led by Olympic gold medallist and two-time World Sailor of the Year Tom Slingsby, three-time America’s Cup winner Glenn Ashby, and Grant Simmer, who was navigator during Australia II’s 1983 America’s Cup victory and is now Team Australia CEO.
The Australian team will challenge current defender Emirates Team New Zealand.
The competition will also mark the first time every team to have previously won the America’s Cup will be represented.
Foxtel Group CEO Patrick Delany said the extended agreement would allow the company to build its sailing coverage as the Australian team returns to the competition.
“Our extended agreement to bring the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup to our audiences reinforces Kayo SPORTS’ commitment to delivering world-class sailing to Australian fans.
Together with the America’s Cup Partnership, we’re growing the sport’s audience and connecting more Australians with the drama and spectacle of the competition.
“With Team Australia returning to the challenge for the first time in nearly three decades, there’s never been a more exciting time for sailing in this country.”
America’s Cup Partnership Chief Executive Officer Marzio Perrelli said the agreement would make the competition available to Australian audiences as Team Australia mounts its challenge.
“Kayo SPORTS’ unrivalled reach across Australia makes them the perfect partner to bring the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup to fans across the country.
This agreement ensures audiences won’t miss a moment as Team Australia mounts another historic challenge on the world stage.”
Simmer said the return would bring Australian sailors, designers and innovators together for another challenge.
“Forty years ago, Australia II showed what Australians can achieve when we come together behind a bold ambition.
Now, we’re excited to be bringing Australian sailors, designers and innovators back under one flag to challenge for the America’s Cup once again in 2027.
We know how much this competition means to Australians, and we’re grateful that fans across the country will be able to follow the journey on Kayo SPORTS.”
First contested in 1851, the America’s Cup is described as the oldest continually contested trophy in international sport.
