Channel 7 has started revealing contestants for the 2026 season of My Kitchen Rules, introducing Blue Mountains married couple Jane and Shane ahead of the show’s return to Seven and 7plus.
Food stylist Jane and builder Shane are preparing to put their cooking to the test, with the pair describing their approach to food as “vibrant, passionate and packed with flavour.”
Jane brings a background in food styling to the competition, along with an interest in design and dinner parties.
Described in promotional material as bold and creative, Jane is also presented as the more outspoken member of the partnership.
She describes herself as “more of a taster than an eater” and believes she can replicate any dish, with plans to demonstrate that presentation does not have to come at the expense of what is on the plate.
Shane has taken a different career path, moving from hairdressing into building.
The promotional material describes him as the “calm to Jane’s storm”, with Shane portrayed as laid-back and level-headed. He is expected to know when to become involved in the kitchen and when to allow Jane to take centre stage.
Together, the married couple will attempt to show that their interest in both food and fashion can translate into success in the My Kitchen Rules kitchen.
Their first major test will come with their Instant Restaurant, which Seven is promoting as a reflection of the couple’s personalities and approach to food.
According to the network, the restaurant will feature striking dishes, plenty of personality and surprises intended to “turn heads and ruffle feathers”.
The question for Jane and Shane will be whether that confidence, creativity and attention to presentation can win over their fellow competitors when their food reaches the table.
The Blue Mountains couple are among the contestants being introduced as Channel 7 begins its rollout for the next season of the long-running cooking competition.
