The popular newsreader is bidding farewell after 12 years with the network.

Newsreader Kendall Gilding is set to leave Channel 7 after failing to come to terms on a new contract. Sources have confirmed to TV Blackbox discussions had been ongoing and her exit is not the result of a redundancy.
Gilding was seen throughout Queensland as host of the 4pm News bulletin each weekday.
The move is surprising considering the current climate within the industry when budgets are being tightened across all networks.
For its part, Seven will continue to use Samantha Heathwood and Katrina Blowers as weekend and backup presenters. Heathwood has been a constant feature reading the national 5pm news on weekends.
Reporter Jacqueline Robson has been sent to the US to backfill over summer and is seen as one to watch.
Overnight, since this story was published, Michael Coombes has sent a note out to staff confirming our story, praising Gilding for her work on the 4pm bulletin since its inception:
(She) has done a fantastic job anchoring a critical program for us locally. Â
She has helped shape the bulletin, working closely with producers to develop its unique style.
However, Kendall has decided now is the time for her to focus on her young family and explore other opportunities.
It’s unclear what Gilding plans to do now, but she has previously been described as a ‘beloved’ member of the 7 News team and filled in as a newsreader on Sunrise and the 6pm bulletin.
