This close to December are the commercial networks really trying to capture our attention – really?!


Channel 9

Nine opened with their best A Current Affair (539,000) before another series of Taronga: Who’s Who In The Zoo (338,000) delivered a reasonable audience, landing second in primetime. Luxe Listings Sydney (154,000) and The Equalizer (64,000) are largely ignored by the audience.

Nine first in primary (17.8%) and second in network (26.7%) rankings.

Channel 7

Home & Away (380,000) led the night for Seven as their best, which dropped into the series finale of A Year on Planet Earth (250,000)–which lifted on last week though ended up in fourth in the timeslot– and then another poorly performing double ep of Big Brother Australia (121,000; 91,000).

Seven second in primary (16.4%) and first in network (27.5%) rankings.


ABC

7:30 (383,000) and a repeat of Hard Quiz (409,000) again unbeatable in primetime for the ABC, followed by another slot-winning episode eachof Question Everything (387,000) and Australian Epic (259,000). Planet America (182,000) then drops into a repeat of QI (123,000), before new Adam Hills: The Last Leg (85,000) closed out the evening.

ABC third in both primary (14.4%) and network (20.1%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Project (145,000 6:30pm; 254,000 7pm) slipped only a small amount for 10, while part one of the next Mirror Mirror: Are You Well? part 1 (278,000) special delivers sub-par ratings at 7:30pm. My Life is Murder (132,000) and a repeat of The Secret She Keeps? (DNR) managed only small audiences in the later and late night.

10 fourth in both primary (9.6%) and network (17.1%) rankings.

SBS

More history from SBS with Mystery of the Assassination of JFK (110,000) before new Alone UK (59,000), and finishing out with the spectacular double ep premiere of season five of Fargo (58,000 double ep average).

SBS fifth in both primary (4.2%) and network (8.5%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: Nine News 6pm (64,000) led Nine News 6:30pm, Seven News 6pm/6:30pm, and Home and Away.

18-49: Seven News 6pm (119,000) beat Nine News 6pm/6:30pm, Seven News 6:30pm, and Mirror Mirror: Are You Well? part 1.

25-54: Nine News 6:30pm (168,000) was followed by Nine News 6pm, Seven News 6pm/6:30pm, and A Current Affair.

One change to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added: Dessert Masters (10) lifted 28% to 694,000; A Year on Planet Earth (Seven) lifted 9% to 419,000; and 2023 ARIA Awards (Nine) lifted 9% to 355,000.

The BVOD best were Love Island Australia (248,000), Home and Away (140,000), and Dessert Masters (101,000).
