Channel 9 is set to unveil the much-anticipated fourth season of its unparalleled medical series, Emergency, on Thursday, October 19, at 8.30 pm.

A stark portrayal of the intensity and chaos at one of Australia’s major trauma hospitals, this season provides viewers an unparalleled view of Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Emergency Department.

Renowned for its raw and candid fly-on-the-wall format, Emergency not only delves deep into the intricate surgeries and life-saving measures taken in the ward but also humanises the experience by shining a spotlight on the medical professionals behind them. These heroes don the scrubs daily, operating in the frenzied realm of the action-stations casualty ward.

Audiences are once again granted exclusive access into the daily operations and lives of this talented medical team, including the beloved physicians from previous instalments – Doctors Bjorn, Emma, George, Jonathan, Luke, Mark, Martin, Michael, Michelle, Mya and Nurses Ebony, Gemma and Sarah.

Additionally, this season promises fresh faces and perspectives with the addition of Dr Andrew Trezise, Dr Andrew Wallace, Dr Terry Kane, Dr Tsung Chung, Nurse Practitioners Paul Casey and Krystal Maloney, Nurses Liz Wheeler, Jenna Aumann and Gigi Ferrer and Nurse Unit Manager Susan Harding.

The opening episode of the new season promises a plethora of emotions, blending moments of heartbreak, elation, hope, and humour. The episode teases high-stake situations, such as Dr Scott and Dr Jonathan grappling with the challenging case of a pregnant woman severely harmed in a rapid vehicle mishap. Meanwhile, Dr Andrew and Dr Jana find themselves in a race against time, attending to a jockey with life-endangering injuries following a dramatic incident with a horse.

In another segment, Dr Jason deals with the aftermath of a distressing motorbike and truck collision, while language barriers force Dr Martin and Nurse Sarah to employ modern technology, using translator apps, to console a young, frightened tourist who’s suffered an accident.

Produced by the renowned WTFN for the 9Network, the series is expected to continue its tradition of offering viewers a mix of emotion, drawing them into the very core of the medical world and the heroes that inhabit it.

Season Four of EMERGENCY hits your screens this October 19 at 8.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
