In a heart-stopping climax, My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2023 champions were named, with Radha and Prabha seizing victory by the slimmest of margins.

The identical twins outperformed with an astounding 27/30, edging out Victoria’s Nick and Christian who claimed a commendable 25/30. A mere two points stood between both pairs in the race for the title and the enviable $100,000 cash prize.

The team’s exquisite Indian menu resonated deeply with the judges. It was an ode to their late father and grandparents, reflecting the rich tapestry of their heritage. Nigella was profoundly moved, mentioning the dishes brought her “deep joy”. Echoing this sentiment, Manu expressed he was “delighted all night long”.

It was an emotional moment for Prabha, who admitted, “I’ll never ever forget this moment. I’m literally shaking my knees right now.” Reflecting on the powerful impact of their cultural lineage, Radha gave a touching tribute: “Turns out the flavours you bring from your heritage, they’re the strongest roots that you can rely on.” Their mother, a pillar of support, watched on with pride.

The Grand Finale witnessed both teams in a culinary face-off, each preparing four tantalising courses, amounting to a whopping 100 plates, all against the ticking clock of the Kitchen HQ.

Radha and Prabha’s Spicy Fish Fry with Yellow Dhal and Tomato Chutney entrée garnered praise, with Manu labelling it “absolutely delicious”, while Colin felt it was both inviting and vibrant, being “cooked perfectly, spiced perfectly.”

The duo’s Kerala Prawn Curry with Roti, paired with Spiced Potato and Eggplant, garnered mixed reviews. Nigella believed the prawns were slightly overdone, whereas Colin appreciated the ensemble, commenting, “Everything worked. I love that little side dish, great with the bread.”

Their grandfather’s treasured Chicken Biryani with Cucumber Raita and Pickled Onion ensnared Manu with its aroma. He described the experience as, “I love the fragrant, spicy biryani, then the cool of raita, then the acidity and the crisp of the onion. All of this makes sense.”

Their finale dessert, the Pistachio Ice Cream Chocolate Dome with Almond and Orange Crumb, was hailed by Colin as their “best dessert of the competition.” Manu felt it was both “surprising and delicious.”

On the other hand, Nick and Christian’s Scallops with Black Pudding and Bloody Mary Butter entrée was well received. Both Nigella and Manu lauded its rich flavour profile.

Their seafood course featured Crayfish with Vadouvan Butter and Witlof Salad, and Nigella commended them for achieving perfection with “25 portions of crayfish in time.”

Yet, their Bavette with Red Wine Jus and Truffle elicited queries, especially regarding the sous vide technique. Nigella expressed doubts, wondering, “They haven’t got a crust on the outside.”

The 3181 Mess dessert showcased by the duo intrigued Nigella, especially the “texture and flavour of the yuzu curd,” though she felt it needed a creamier touch.

The final tally revealed Radha and Prabha leading with:
