In a highly competitive year for AFL, the 2023 Charles Brownlow Medal ceremony is already shaping up as a must-watch event.

Channel 7 is set to deliver every scintillating detail, from red carpet arrivals to the final vote count. The extravaganza will unfold on Monday, 25 September, live from Crown Melbourne, the event’s luxurious venue.

The constellation of talent vying for the AFL’s highest individual honour is nothing short of remarkable this year. From up-and-coming stars like Nick Daicos to seasoned players such as Marcus Bontempelli and Christian Petracca, the contest appears wide open. Add in standout players like Lachie Neale and Zak Butters, and you have a competition too close to call, even for the most seasoned AFL pundits.

Seven’s groundbreaking coverage will kick off at 7.30pm AEST, leveraging the full scope of its broadcasting capabilities. For the first time, viewers can watch live across all devices via 7plus, in addition to the traditional broadcasting on Channel 7 and 7mate.

Steering the evening’s proceedings will be Hamish McLachlan, the veteran 7AFL host, and Rebecca Maddern from 7NEWS Melbourne. Their dynamic hosting is anticipated to add another layer of excitement to the ceremony.

Before the official medal count gets underway, the Brownlow Medal Red Carpet show will capture all the pre-ceremony razzle-dazzle. Hosted by Abbey Gelmi and featuring contributions from Dale Thomas and Emma Freedman, the red carpet coverage promises to be as glittering as the event itself, showcasing high fashion and intimate interviews with AFL’s biggest stars.

“From the glamour of the red carpet, through to the thrilling final vote count, the Seven Network is rapt to deliver another epic Brownlow Medal broadcast to all Australians, live and free on Channel 7 and 7plus,”

exclaimed Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin.

“As we’ve seen in recent years, the Brownlow Medal is often unpredictable, and this year is no different.

With young guns like Nick Daicos and Zak Butters making a huge impact in their second and fifth seasons respectively, alongside the competition’s most experienced players like Marcus Bontempelli and Christian Petracca, we are set for a nail-biting finish,”

As a nod to the occasion’s grandeur, Seven Network is implementing the latest in broadcast technology. Among the innovations is the state-of-the-art Sparklebot slow-motion camera, exclusively deployed for capturing red carpet moments. This sophisticated piece of technology reflects Seven’s commitment to giving viewers an unparalleled Brownlow experience.

But the Brownlow Medal is merely the starting pistol for an enthralling week in the AFL calendar. The crescendo will undoubtedly be the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, 30 September. Seven Network has yet to divulge the intricate details of its Grand Final coverage, but an announcement is expected imminently.

For those who can’t get enough of the AFL action, 7plus will house an AFL Hub, a dedicated platform where fans can stream episodes of Talking Finals, The Front Bar, and Armchair Experts. In addition, the hub will feature interviews, match previews, and exclusive player access on-demand.

In an inclusive move designed to make the Brownlow Medal and the 2023 AFL Grand Final accessible to fans nationwide, Seven has announced that both landmark events will be available to watch live, free, and in HD via 7plus across all devices.
