When you spend big money on sports rights you understandably expect big results.


Channel 7

A double ep of Home & Away (272,000; 245,000 (Late) BNE/SYD/PER)
opens Seven’s night as a split, and then:
A repeat of Highway Patrol Special (163,000 (137,000 Seven BNE/SYD/PER; 26,000 7mate MEL/ADL))
and Britain’s Got Talent (58,000 Seven BNE/SYD/PER);
or
Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football (425,000 (334,000 Seven MEL/ADL; 91,000 7mate BNE/SYD/PER));
and it all comes back together with Fantasy Island (53,000).

Seven first in both primary (23.6%) and network (33%) rankings.

Channel 9

A Current Affair (601,000) led Nine’s night as their best, and with no football it runs to Space Invaders (121,000) and then the usual emergency ob-doc programs Paramedics (279,000), Casualty 24/7 (198,000), and A+E After Dark (77,000).

Nine second in both primary (18.4%) and network (25.9%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Project (201,000 6:30pm; 265,000 7pm) and MasterChef Australia (384,000) remain consistent though the lowest rating eps of the week. The First Inventors (190,000) premieres to small numbers before the friendly Football: Socceroos v Argentina (137,000) runs into the late night.

10 third in both primary (12%) and network (17.8%) rankings.


ABC

7:30 (383,000) and the season finale of Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland and Beyond (243,000) open the ABC’s night as their best, and sliding into Grand Designs New Zealand (188,000) and One Plus One – The Elders (102,000). Repeats of Art Works (52,000) and The Platypus Guardian (DNR) fill out the schedule.

ABC fourth in both primary (9.9%) and network (14.8%) rankings.

SBS

A slower night for SBS, with Inside Sydney Airport (107,000), Putin and the West (91,000), and Normal People (36,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (3.8%) and network (8.4%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: Nine News 6:30pm (87,000) led Nine News 6pm, A Current Affair, Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football, and Seven News 6pm.

18-49: Nine News 6:30pm (159,000) beat Nine News 6pm, Seven News 6pm/6:30pm, and Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football.

25-54: Nine News 6:30pm (206,000) lands a triple-demo win for Nine, followed by Seven News 6pm, Nine News 6pm, Seven News 6:30pm, and A Current Affair.


MULTI-CHANNELS

Ginger and the Vegesaurs – EV (109,000) drops another multi-channel race for ABC Kids/TV Plus.

No changes to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added: ICC World Test Championship Day 2 S1 (Seven/7mate) lifted 4% to 670,000/Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football (Seven/7mate) lifted 0% to 501,000; MasterChef Australia (10) lifted 30% to 717,000; and Thursday Night NRL Live (Nine) lifted 11% to 483,000.

The BVOD best were Home and Away (162,000) and MasterChef Australia (101,000).
