The end is near for the massively popular series “Yellowstone,” with the final episodes of its fifth and final season set to premiere on Stan this November.

Rumours had been circulating about Kevin Costner’s desire to exit from the show due to his desire to focus on the two-part Western feature “Horizon,” which would have significantly impacted his availability for “Yellowstone.”

Fans, however, have a new sequel series to look forward to. While exact plot and casting details for the sequel series remain under wraps, it has been reported that Matthew McConaughey was in talks to star in the new show, featuring several characters from “Yellowstone.”

The new project is being helmed by Taylor Sheridan and will be available to stream in Australia on Paramount+

“Yellowstone,” led by Oscar-winner Kevin Costner, holds the title of the number one drama on US cable television. The first instalment of the SAG and PGA-nominated fifth season saw John Dutton (Costner) become the Governor of Montana, with the Dutton family facing battles on multiple fronts. The show raises the question of the true cost of power and the sacrifices the Duttons are willing to make.

The series boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, and Australian actors Finn Little and Jacki Weaver.

Since its debut, “Yellowstone” has shattered US viewing records, with the Season 4 premiere attracting over 14 million total viewers and the finale drawing more than 15 million.

The drama follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), as they navigate the challenges of controlling the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The ranch is in constant conflict with its neighbours, including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park, as they deal with shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect.

“Yellowstone” is co-created by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (known for “Wind River,” “Hell or High Water,” and “Sicario”) and John Linson. Executive producers include John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, and Stephen Kay.

The epic final instalment of “Yellowstone” will be available on Stan this November. All episodes of the series are currently streaming.
