JOHANNA + PETE – HUTT HOUSE WALKAROUND

On an unloved block of land, a Melbourne couple has created an award-winning ultra-sustainable home, called Hutt House. Squeezed between a narrow laneway and a busy railway line, this 250m sq triangular block posed many hurdles, not least of which was overcoming a fire just as it was being finished. But the Hütt House was always meant to be more than a family home. The vision was to create a prototype of an ultra-sustainable passive home that creates more energy than it uses. Join Johanna and Pete as they tour this innovative and award-winning home.

Hanging art on the wall is a great way to infuse character into any room. But if you don’t want to spend of lot of money, you can create your own art using the humble potato. They’re not just great for chips and stews, but also art. Using potatoes, you can create all sorts of simple designs, but if you’re looking to inject a bit more Vitamin C in your art, you can use sweet potato too!

KAREN – CRISP APPLEJACK POCKETS

Apples are nature’s delicious healthy snack. How can you possibly make them better? Well, gently spiced, wrapped in pastry and deep fried. That’s how. If you want to really push the boat out, you can use heirloom apples like the ones Karen uses from a community garden west of Melbourne. If that’s a bit far to go, apples from your local supermarket will also work just as well. This really is a simple way to make the most delicious dessert this Autumn.

FAST ED – AUTUMN PRODUCE: ONE PUMPKIN TWO WAYS – CREAMY PUMPKIN, ALMOND & THREE CHEESE PASTA

It’s easy to love Summer, but with crisp cool mornings, bright sunny days and changing colours on the trees, Autumn is Ed’s favourite time of year. And the reason is he gets to cook with fresh pumpkins! Seasonal veggies, almonds and three different cheeses make for a delectable pasta sauce, ready for a fresh Autumn lunch.

FAST ED – AUTUMN PRODUCE: ONE PUMPKIN TWO WAYS – LIGHTLY SPICED PUMPKIN PIE

The most delicious way to make the most of pumpkin season is with Ed’s spiced pumpkin pie. And if you haven’t thought of pumpkins as a sweet dessert before, you’re in for a treat. Mashing roast pumpkins is not only fun, but makes for a rich, creamy and textured filling. Ed even shows you how to make your own pastry, which if you haven’t attempted before, isn’t as difficult as you might think. Half a pumpkin will make two of these delicious pies, which is a great way to make friends.

GRAHAM – THE BUNGALOW & IVY LEAF CHAPEL GARDEN

Every so often you stumble on a garden that is full of heart and soul, well this is one of those gardens. Tonight, Graham explores the old-world charm of a 1915 heritage property in Tenterfield, NSW. The Bungalow & Ivy Leaf Chapel has 1.5 acres of beautifully landscaped, tranquil gardens. In the front is a formal garden made up of immaculately sculpted hedges in a wagon wheel shape, while the back garden is larger and less formal, utilising larger pants, like shade trees. The signature though, is the Ivy Leaf Chapel, which may change colour depending on the season, but is always ready to bring any bride’s dreams to life.
