The Gold Coast is one of the most prominent screen production centres in the Southern Hemisphere, with diverse locations, world-class studios, and a vast network of skilled technicians and crews.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk expressed her excitement over the deal between the Australian Film Institute and the Queensland Government, saying that it will help strengthen Queensland’s reputation as a global screen heavyweight. She also mentioned the state’s film-friendly locations, highly skilled crew, world-class facilities, and competitive incentives that make it a production paradise.

Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the AACTAs will bring international star power to the Gold Coast and put Queensland in the global spotlight. He also mentioned that the event is expected to generate $3.4 million for the visitor economy, with AACTA President Russell Crowe, Vice President Nicole Kidman, and Ambassador Cate Blanchett leading the list of talent.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said that the AACTAs are the pinnacle of the screen industry and the city is honored to host the awards for the next three years. He mentioned that the Gold Coast’s world-class screen sector and stunning natural environments will provide the perfect backdrop for the awards.
