The verdict is in on one of 2022’s biggest dramas, and the fate of the accused Kate Lawson will be revealed tonight during the final episode of Foxtel original event series THE TWELVE.
Over the course of ten weeks, fans have been glued to their screens as shocking revelations from the high-profile murder trial have unfolded, alongside the stories of the 12 jurors, who are confronted not only with the grim details of the case, but also with their own realities and struggles that will irrevocably change their lives.
But one question has remained unanswered among fans: did Kate Lawson (Kate Mulvany) murder her niece Claire in cold blood?
The jury is still out, but according to a Twitter poll, 75% of Australians believe Kate is innocent of the heinous crime.
All will be revealed on Tuesday night during the season finale of the hit series starring Sam Neill and Marta Dusseldorp, which has become the FOXTEL Group’s most watched drama of 2022.
FOXTEL Group Executive Director, Drama, Brian Walsh, said:
“THE TWELVE has quickly established itself as one of the best Original dramas we’ve ever produced and that’s due to the impressive ensemble cast – one of the biggest ever assembled in Australia – and the brilliance of the writing and creative teams who brought the series to screen and kept audiences coming back week after week to see the story unfold.”
“We’re all incredibly proud of THE TWELVE and thrilled that it has broken viewing records to become the FOXTEL Group’s most watched drama in 2022.
I can’t wait to see the reactions of fans all around the country when the verdict is delivered.”
The FOXTEL Group commissioned the 10-episode crime drama, which is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia in collaboration with Easy Tiger Productions, with major production investment from Screen Australia in collaboration with FOXTEL. Screen NSW provided funding for this project. Endeavor Content distributes the series worldwide. Brian Walsh and Penny Win are the Foxtel Group’s executive producers.
Great finale but I was appalled that the Hamish Michael character was not in custody on an attempted murder charge ! Please explain.
It was one of the most boring shows. We trecorded it and fast forwarded at times. An ambiguous ending is never good. Nothing made real sense. In a word awful.
Totally agree- plus what happened to Gary and his dogs??? Also who was that awful creep in the glasses???
You may think that it is the most watched but tonight’s episode Kate was found guiltyof the murder but we have been left not knowing what really happened. Very disappointing.
Hi Jo – if you watched the episode there was no ambiguity as to what happened. It was explained by a conversation toward the end.
Can some please explain to me why the gangsters wanted an aquital.. they went to a lot of trouble but it was never explained why. They had a guy working on the inside etc but that just seemed to be left unresolved
Hi Des – the gangster was working for the art gallery guy, and it was in the art guy’s best interest that she was found not guilty due to their investment in her work.
I had no idea what was going on!
Exactly what I wondered!
Awfully bad script- am surprised the great Sam Neill was involved in this- although- as always he was superb!
I loved it. It explained what happened. The look on Diane’s face at the end said it all.
Also – the hotel they were sequestered in, was Skye Suites Parramatta. It is a great property!
Kate should of been not guilty very disappointed
What happens to Garry after he gets in the car in the final episode?
Are we to assume he’s murdered?
This is what I have been trying to find out! Did they kill his beloved dogs- loved Gary.
There were two collars and leashes on the seat. I assumed he was taken to where his dogs were and that he got the dogs back.
Hi Sue – that’s one interpretation…the other would be he was being taken to face a similar fate to his dogs.
I wondered that too! Why wasn’t there more clarity!!!
Hopefully- that’s what I hoped!
Yeah same.
My understanding is that Claire committed suicide and the family tried to cover it up. Is that correct?
*SPOILERS*
Hi George – yes, that was the admission by Kate to her lawyer that Claire met her end accidentally while trying to finish the photo series, and that Kate and her sister/Claire’s mum (Diane) knew about it. The negatives would have proven Kate innocent of murder, yet the admission Kate had an affair with Diane’s ex was enough for Diane to burn the negatives so that Kate was cooked.
Thanks for explaining!
I really hope that Garry was taken to be re United with his dogs and that makes sense
I don’t believe Claire committed suicide I believe it was accidental also
However I wonder why Garry Would’ve been let off after he didn’t get them what they wanted and he owed them money
Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed the show but yes could’ve done with a bit more clarity on Gazza in the end…..
Me too
I’m so glad that woman left her abusive husband!!!
Agree- he was Awful!
A bit of an understatement – he would have been in jail for attempted murder. There was a witness, too.
Does that last scene with the water mean that the body is at the bottom of the river?
