Australia’s #1 pre-6pm game show has a brand-new host, with the Seven Network today announcing that Larry Emdur is taking the helm at The Chase Australia.
TV Blackbox reported Emdur was the hot tip inside Seven’s executive halls a fortnight ago, and fans confirmed he’d be their pick given their say.
One of the country’s most experienced and loved television presenters, Emdur will film his first episodes of The Chase Australia next month, to be broadcast later this year.
Emdur’s exciting new role is in addition to his day job on Seven’s top-rating The Morning Show, where he has been co-host alongside Kylie Gillies since 2007.
Given Seven’s delicate financial situation it makes sense to carry someone as capable as Emdur into the role as it doesn’t significantly increase their spend on wages and doesn’t increase head-count–critical at a time the Network is forging on to improve its challenging balance sheet.
Emdur said:
“I’ve had a love affair with quiz shows for most of my working life and the opportunity to host one of the TV world’s greatest formats is incredibly exciting.
“I’ve always enjoyed watching The Chase Australia and I can’t wait dust off my shiny game show shoes, apply some ‘game show’ grade teeth whitener and learn how to say words like pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.”
