Beneath postcard-perfect alpine vistas lies a fresh trail of blood, obsession and meticulously staged terror when A Remarkable Place to Die returns on Sunday, November 15, at 8.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Logie Award-winning actress and filmmaker Chelsie Preston Crayford (Underbelly: Razor, M3GAN) steps back into the shoes of AnaĆs Mallory, the sharpest detective in the pristine resort destination of Queenstown, for season two of the mystery crime drama series.

She is joined by an exceptional ensemble including Michala Banas (McLeod’s Daughters, Winners & Losers), Matt Whelan (Narcos, American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story), Roimata Fox (Cowboy Bebop, Coco), Dahnu Graham (Sweet Tooth, Friends Like Her) and Lynette Forday (Shortland Street, 800 Words), who are all returning, alongside an outstanding slate of new arrivals and great guests.

They include Luke Arnold (Scrublands, Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS), Mark Mitchinson (Rake, Mystery Road), JJ Fong (Wellmania, Falling Inn Love), Rodger Corser (Doctor Doctor, The Floor) and Vinnie Bennett (Fast & Furious 9, Black Snow).

A Remarkable Place to Die continues the story of dogged Detective AnaĆs Mallory who, having unmasked her sister Lynne’s killer, remains haunted by the unanswered question: why was she targeted?

Convinced Lynne’s murder is inextricably linked to the death of Maja Staunton, whose grotesque corpse was displayed in a birdcage, AnaĆs undertakes a dangerous, off-the-books investigation that attracts unwanted attention and sinister warnings.

Complicating matters, the Queenstown police station is upended by the arrival of abrasive Invercargill investigative Detective Vernon Kincaid (Mitchinson), brought in to lead the official inquiry.

Teaming up with her close-knit policing team – and free-spirited Aussie house sitter Kylie Shorrack (Banas) refusing to sit on the sidelines – AnaĆs uncovers a mysterious trail that exposes chilling secrets stretching beyond New Zealand to the heart of Europe.

As the stakes rise and loyalties are tested, the police squad must also navigate a fresh wave of local crime, including a cold case dredged from the bottom of a lake, deadly sabotage on mountain bike trails, and bitter rivalries bubbling beneath Queenstown’s glossy veneer.

A Remarkable Place to Die is an original drama production for the 9Network, along with ZDF, Acorn and TVNZ. The series was created by Screentime New Zealand and co-produced with Real Film Berlin in association with Banijay Rights.

A Remarkable Place to Die season two premieres Sunday, November 15, at 8.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
