Convenient, durable and cheap. Plastic products are an everyday part of everyone’s lives, but for all of the benefits, it’s becoming increasingly obvious the planet is paying a price.
Put simply, the world is being choked by plastic. Most people are all too aware the oceans are awash with the stuff, and wildlife is dying because of it.
But as Dimity Clancey reports, it’s now time to also consider the impact, and harm, plastic is having on humans. New research conducted by Australian scientists reveals the frightening amount of plastic invading our bodies.

MURDER IN PARADISE
When Australian hotel manager Jason Rigby died in Fiji two years ago, local police treated it as a suicide. Investigating officers concluded, as tragic as it was, there was nothing untoward about 40-year-old Jason’s death.
Their assessment was made despite substantial evidence suggesting otherwise. Unsurprisingly, Jason’s family in Australia did not accept what they were being told and embarked on their own investigation.
Last year Nine’s Christine Ahern reported on the frustrations the family were facing in their search for answers. But there has been a breakthrough, so significant that the top brass in the Fijian police have changed their minds.
They now believe Jason’s death is suspicious and is a likely case of murder.
