The search is on for the next group of survivalists to take on Alone Australia, with casting now open for the 2027 season.
The series is confirmed to be returning to the Arctic Circle, as recently announced at the SBS Upfronts, following the current season’s adventure in the frozen wilderness.
Produced by ITV Studios Australia, Alone Australia is looking for applicants with the skills, knowledge and mental strength to survive weeks of isolation, with hunting, fishing and foraging among the abilities that could help them go the distance.
The casting call reads:
“We do not expect you to have answers to every question or expertise in every level of survival, so please do not be intimidated by the process.”
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and are expected to own at least a basic range of survival clothing, footwear, equipment and tools.
The casting call is also encouraging applications from people traditionally under-represented on screen, including First Nations Australians, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, LGBTIQ+ people and women.
There’s also one particularly important instruction attached to the application: do not use AI to complete the form, with the casting team saying it wants to hear from the person behind the application rather than a polished response.
The current season of Alone Australia wraps up tonight, Wednesday 9 September, with a double-episode finale on SBS and SBS On Demand, followed by a reunion on SBS On Demand at 8.30pm.
Applications for Alone Australia 2027 close at midnight on 7 March 2027.
