ABC Commercial expands global reach with four new FAST channels on LG Smart TVs
ABC Commercial has expanded its international streaming footprint, launching four new Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels on LG Smart TVs across multiple international markets.
Available through the LG Channels app from this week, the rollout spans North America, Great Britain, Singapore, The Netherlands, and the Nordic countries, giving audiences access to free, curated Australian programming without requiring a subscription or login.
The rollout varies by territory, with ABC Entertains and ABC Kids launching in the United States. Canada receives ABC Entertains, ABC Factual and ABC Kids, while viewers in the United Kingdom, Ireland, The Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Singapore gain access to all four channels: ABC Entertains, ABC Everyday, ABC Factual and ABC Kids.
According to ABC Commercial, the launch represents a significant expansion of its international FAST strategy, combining always-on linear channels with curated on-demand libraries.
“We’re proud to introduce international viewers to ABC’s world-class programming through our new FAST channels.
From bold dramas and compelling documentaries to lifestyle inspiration and fun for the whole family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy — completely free.”
Brian Lee, Sales Manager – Digital at ABC Commercial, said the launch reflected the growing importance of FAST streaming to the organisation’s international business.
The new channels showcase a range of Australian content across entertainment, lifestyle, factual programming and children’s television.
ABC Entertains features Australian drama and comedy, including Aftertaste and Upper Middle Bogan.
ABC Everyday focuses on lifestyle programming with titles including Restoration Australia, Back Roads, Gardening Australia and Cheese Slices.
ABC Factual offers documentary programming including New Leash on Life and AI vs Human: The Creativity Experiment.
ABC Kids includes children’s series such as Reef School and Create.
Sabina McNally, Content Acquisitions Senior Manager, LGEEH Europe WebOS Content & Services, said the partnership would expand the range of Australian programming available through the platform.
“We’re delighted to welcome ABC to LG Channels and provide their standout Australian entertainment, lifestyle, factual and kids’ programming to LG TV owners.
This partnership reflects our ongoing effort to offer high-quality, free entertainment on LG Channels across the world.”
According to ABC Commercial, the launch uses a hybrid approach by combining linear FAST streams with curated on-demand libraries to give viewers greater flexibility in how they access content.
“FAST is a significant and growing area of business for ABC Commercial.
This launch on LG Channels encompasses a hybrid strategy that combines the best of linear FAST streams with curated on-demand libraries, giving viewers flexibility and choice in how they engage with ABC’s content.”
The rollout is supported by media technology company Amagi, which partnered with ABC Commercial to facilitate the international FAST expansion.
Tom Parsons, Senior Director, Business Development APAC at Amagi, said the partnership reflected changing content distribution models.
“Partnering with ABC Commercial is really exciting for Amagi.
Being able to bring the ABC’s iconic, world-class Australian content to international audiences via leading platforms like LG Channels reflects a meaningful new shift in how premium content is distributed and discovered.
As FAST continues to reshape TV, partnerships like this demonstrate how broadcasters can unlock reach and connect with Audiences in a way that feels both modern and transformative.”
The four channels are available through LG Channels on LG Smart TVs equipped with webOS, delivering an ad-supported streaming experience directly on compatible televisions.
According to ABC Commercial, revenue generated through its commercial activities is reinvested into producing new Australian content.
