Australia’s Eurovision fever is officially heading into overdrive, with Delta Goodrem securing a spot in the 2026 Grand Final after a visually stunning Semi Final performance in Vienna.
Following a glitter soaked staging of Eclipse that blended celestial visuals, towering light effects and thousands of Swarovski crystals, Australia will now return to the Eurovision stage for one final showdown early Sunday morning on SBS.
Delta’s performance transformed the Eurovision stage into a cinematic world of light and shadow, shifting from a moonlit dreamscape into a glowing gold finale inspired by the themes of Eclipse.
Created by staging directors Dan Shipton and Ross Nicholson from Black Skull Creative, the performance quickly became one of the standout moments of Semi Final 2.
While Delta’s selection was initially viewed by some Eurovision fans and commentators as a safe choice for Australia earlier this year, the response following Semi Final 2 has shifted the conversation considerably.
Betting markets and fan polls have since pushed Australia into serious contention, with Delta now sitting among the frontrunners alongside current favourite Finland.
Delta also delivered one of the competition’s biggest fashion moments, wearing a custom couture look adorned with more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals and a dramatic eclipse centrepiece symbolising rebirth and transformation.
Goodrem said the result felt like “pure magic” after officially securing Australia’s place in the Grand Final.
“It’s an absolute honour to represent Australia on the Eurovision stage.”
SBS Head of Entertainment and Head of Australian Delegation Emily Griggs said the team felt incredibly proud watching Delta rise to the occasion, praising the response inside the venue following the performance.
“The crowd response was incredible, the applause inside the venue capturing how much the performance connected with everyone.”
Australia now joins the remaining finalists battling for Eurovision glory, with SBS also confirming former Australian entrant Dami Im will return this year as the nation’s official Eurovision spokesperson during the voting sequence.
