If you’ve ever watched Alone Australia from the couch and, like me, thought “I could do that”, SBS had a reality check waiting for these content creators.
Ahead of the new season, which premieres next Wednesday 15 July, SBS sent a group of comedians, adventurers and social media personalities into the bush for a 24 hour survival bootcamp to discover just how quickly creature comforts disappear.
With audiences already flocking to SBS for its FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage, the broadcaster will be hoping to keep plenty of them around for the return of Alone Australia, arguably its second biggest event of the year.
Led by survival and bushcraft expert Gordon Dedman, the group built shelters, sourced and purified water, fished, foraged for food and spent the night alone in self-built shelters with nothing but the elements for company.

Among those taking part were comedian Christian Hull, The Inspired Unemployed’s Liam Moore, Australian Survivor contestant Lottie Rae and comedy creator Chrissy Hearn, all swapping everyday comforts for a crash course in bush survival.
They were joined by adventure creators Josh Neille, Sabrina Allam, Gabriel Redback and RoKKiT KiT, along with comedian Ibby Akbar, each getting a small glimpse of what contestants face from the moment they’re left to fend for themselves.
The activation comes ahead of the fourth season of Alone Australia, which heads to its most extreme location yet as contestants are dropped into the Arctic Circle in Sápmi, Finland.
Facing subzero temperatures, limited food and long periods of darkness, they’ll battle the elements in the hope of outlasting everyone else and claiming the $250,000 prize.
