Australia’s streaming landscape continues to evolve, with fresh Q3 data from JustWatch mapping out another quarter of movement among the major and local platforms.
The latest update from the streaming guide tracks how Aussies are engaging with each service, and while Netflix still holds the crown, the gap between competitors is no longer as comfortable as it once was amid growing choice and fragmentation.
JustWatch tracks activity across its apps and website, so the report reflects user engagement rather than subscriber numbers, offering a look at what Australians are actually searching for and interacting with across digital platforms.

Netflix holds number one, but the field is closing in
According to the new report, Netflix remains Australia’s most engaged platform with 23 percent of browsing interest.
Prime Video follows closely at 20 percent, continuing a strong run through winter and into the new quarter.
Disney+ sits just behind on 19 percent, maintaining steady interest and holding its own against both global rivals and local players.
Local services remain vital mid tier players
Stan secures 11 percent of user interest, while Binge retains 9 percent, forming a competitive middle layer that continues to appeal through local original content and deep catalogues.
Paramount+ Australia remains consistent at 8 percent, rounding out a tight cluster of platforms competing for national attention.
Free BVOD platform 7plus captures 4 percent, while HBO Max arrives in the market with 1 percent.
Other services collectively account for the remaining 5 percent.

Quarter by quarter, the bigger picture becomes clearer
The January to September trend chart in the report shows Netflix’s steady leadership across the year, Prime Video’s upward climb, and Disney+’ stable momentum.
For the local platforms, both Stan and Binge show seasonal shifts yet maintain loyal audiences. Paramount+ saw fluctuations earlier in the year but stabilised heading into Q3.
Smaller players such as 7plus (the only free service included in the report) and new entrant HBO Max hold modest but consistent segments.
A mature market that still has surprises
JustWatch paints a picture of a maturing Australian streaming ecosystem.
The big three dominate, but local services still play an important role through regionally focused programming and strong library depth.
Interest in premium franchises, sports streaming, and exclusive originals continues to drive users across multiple platforms, contributing to an increasingly fragmented but active market.
As global heavyweights expand and homegrown platforms double down on local content, the streaming race is only getting more crowded.
And with Q4 often bringing fresh releases, holiday viewing spikes, and end-of-year tentpoles, the next round of numbers could shake things up again.

Pity there’s no Stan logo in the graphic. The only Australian streamer and larger than Paramount+ and Apple TV. Poor form guys!
