Australia has a new Voice champion, with Reuben De Melo, a FIFO worker and father-of-three from Perth, taking out the title for The Voice Australia 2024.

“I never thought I’d get this far; this is crazy,” Reuben remarked in disbelief.

The result was a proud moment for his coach, LeAnn Rimes, who expressed her admiration:

“I’m so proud. You deserve every bit of this moment, and I’m so honoured that I could be on this journey with you. You are incredible.”

Reuben’s win not only brings him the prestigious title but also $100,000 in prize money, along with an exclusive masterclass in music industry development.

From his very first Blind Audition, Reuben captivated both viewers and coaches alike, earning accolades from Adam Lambert, Kate Miller-Heidke, LeAnn Rimes, and Guy Sebastian.

In an aggressive bid to secure him, Rimes even used her Ultimate Block against her fellow coaches, explaining her decision with:

“I knew as soon as he opened his mouth, and I heard him sing. There was just so much feeling there. There was no way I was letting any of the other coaches get to him before I did.”

For his final solo, Reuben delivered a powerful rendition of House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals, receiving high praise from the judges. Kate Miller-Heidke lauded the performance as “exceptional,” while LeAnn could hardly contain her joy:

“I can’t stop smiling. You just gave it your all. That was just insane.”

The night also featured an emotional duet between Reuben and LeAnn, with the pair performing Fix You by Coldplay, further cementing the coach-student bond that has been a highlight of this season.

Finalists Annie Jones, Jaedyn Randell, and SKŸE delivered powerful performances of their own, each contributing to a dynamic and memorable season.

The Voice Australia 2024 season can be streamed now on 7plus, and applications are open for aspiring vocalists for the 2025 season.
