BritBox Offers $4 Deal for New Subscribers Amidst Expanding Content Lineup

BritBox, the British streaming service, has introduced a special offer allowing new subscribers in Australia to sign up for just $4 for the first two months.

This promotional deal is available from 12 August until 25 August 2024 and is limited to new customers. Priced at $2 per month during this period, the offer allows viewers to access a vast array of British dramas and comedies at a reduced cost.

The recent closure of the BBC First drama channel on Foxtel has further cemented BritBox as the exclusive streaming home for many popular BBC Studios dramas in Australia.

The timing of this promotion coincides with the upcoming premieres of several highly anticipated titles, including The Jetty, Avoidance Season 2, and Baptiste Season 2.

Series such as Death in Paradise, Call The Midwife, and Silent Witness now reside solely on BritBox, enhancing the platform’s appeal to fans of British television.

Among the new content, The Jetty stands out as a fresh addition to BritBox’s roster. This crime thriller, featuring Jenna Coleman, is set in a mysterious lakeside town and revolves around themes of arson, a cold case involving a missing person, and a tangled love triangle. The series is penned by Cat Jones and produced by Firebird Pictures, a label under BBC Studios.

Comprising four parts, The Jetty delves into complex issues such as sexual morality, the age of consent, grooming, identity, and memory. The show is currently airing in the UK, where it has drawn comparisons to the critically acclaimed Happy Valley.

BritBox continues to solidify its reputation as a premier platform for British drama and comedy. Among the forthcoming highlights is the introduction of Don Gilet in Death in Paradise. Gilet, known for his roles in Sherwood, EastEnders, and Shetland, will portray Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson, a new character arriving from London to the fictional island of Saint Marie. Gilet’s debut is set for a feature-length Christmas special, with a new season expected in early 2025.

This content expansion follows the BBC’s acquisition of full ownership of BritBox Australia earlier this year, transitioning from what was previously a joint venture with ITV.

BritBox, initially launched by BBC and ITV, offers an extensive collection of British programming across various genres. Available in markets including the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, and the Nordics, the service is known for its curated playlists and exclusive content.

In Australia, BritBox subscribers can access this content across a wide range of devices, from smartphones to smart TVs, for a regular subscription fee of $8.99 per month.
