A new show from the team that brought you Taskmaster Australia & New Zealand, a local version of Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee is coming to the ABC.
Announced earlier this year, the ABC announced that they would be producing a local version of the NZ original series from comedian Guy Montgomery titled ‘Guy Mont Spelling Bee’.
Described as a ” fast-paced, entertaining and hilarious new comedy panel show” Guy and his loyal assistant Aaron Chen challenge four comedians, comprising of both established names and up-and-coming comics, as they attempt to spell a myriad of words as best they can, all to be crowned that week’s best speller.
The call for audience participants shared online reads;
“After sell out seasons at the 2022 and 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a hit season on NZ television, Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee is coming to Sydney!”
“Join Guy Montgomery and his assistant Aaron Chen as they challenge four local comedians to face the terror of spelling words on national television.”
“The winner gets to return for the next episode. The loser must sit in the dunce’s corner, wearing the dunce’s hat.”
“The stakes could not be higher.”
Filming for the new local series will happen in ABC Sydney’s Ultimo Centre, with dates from Wednesday 26th June through to Saturday 29th June.
