ANZAC Day Match Headlines Major Week of Sports on Seven Network

This week, Australian sports enthusiasts are set for an exciting lineup on the Seven Network, highlighted by the anticipated ANZAC Day AFL match between Collingwood and Essendon.

The game, a standout event since its inception in 1995, showcases one of AFL’s fiercest rivalries and is part of a significant week of sports broadcasting, all available live and free.

The ANZAC Day commemoration will begin at 2.00pm AEST on Thursday with a live telecast of the full pre-game ceremony, featuring the traditional moment of silence and a motorcade, watched by a full crowd at the MCG. The game itself will start at 3.00pm.

The AFL action doesn’t stop there; later on ANZAC Day, Seven will cover the GWS Giants versus Brisbane Lions game from Canberra starting at 7.00pm AEST.

Preceding these games, Seven also broadcasts the ANZAC Day Eve match between Melbourne and Richmond at the MCG, starting at 7.00pm AEST on Wednesday.

The Front Bar will air tonight at 9.00pm, with hosts Andy, Mick, and Sam. They’re joined by Kevin Sheedy and Dane Swan, two figures synonymous with ANZAC Day football, followed by Talking Footy, which will feature discussions with James Brayshaw, Trent Cotchin, Joel Selwood, and Tim Watson, and an appearance by Geelong Cats’ forward Jeremy Cameron.

Adding to the week’s sports extravaganza, LIV Golf makes a return to South Australia from Friday, 26 April. This 54-hole golf event will see Cameron Smith, a homegrown star, headlining five hours of daily coverage available on Channel 7, 7mate, and streaming on 7plus.

Lewis Martin, Managing Director of Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, expressed his enthusiasm for the week’s events.

“With five epic AFL contests over four days – including an ANZAC Day double header – plus the adrenaline-pumping LIV Golf tournament on home soil in South Australia, there is something for everyone this week on Seven,” he noted.

Martin also highlighted the significance of the ANZAC Day match.

“There are few more meaningful football moments than when Collingwood and Essendon players run out together for the ANZAC Day match.

The game has become one of the AFL’s greatest traditions, a day when Australians pause to give thanks to our servicemen and women.

Given the recent form of both teams, we’re anticipating a captivating contest this Thursday,” he added.
