The ABC has slated the Australian debut of one of New Zealand’s most audacious dramas, AFTER THE PARTY, for a weekly broadcast on ABC TV.

Starting from Sunday 28 April, viewers can also binge-watch all episodes on ABC iview.

Produced in Wellington, NZ, by Lingo Pictures and Luminous Beast, AFTER THE PARTY is a riveting six-part series featuring Robyn Malcolm (Upper Middle Bogan, Harrow, Top of the Lake) and Peter Mullan (Ozark, Top of the Lake). Recently, Robyn Malcolm received the Best Actress award at Series Mania’s International Panorama in Lille, France, for her portrayal of Penny.

The storyline centres around Penny, whose life takes a devastating turn after she accuses her husband, Phil (played by Peter Mullan), of committing a sex crime against her daughter’s teenage friend—a claim that finds no believers.

Five years on, Phil returns from Scotland, moving in with Penny’s daughter, Grace (Tara Canton), and her grandchild. Despite Grace’s pleas for reconciliation, Penny’s determination to prove Phil’s guilt reignites, disrupting lives and straining her relationship with Grace to breaking point.

Penny faces a harrowing choice between uncovering the truth and preserving her bond with her daughter.

“New Zealand’s best TV drama in years… A career peak for Robyn Malcolm… boiling, relentless and dangerous.” – The Spinoff, NZ

Production Credit: A collaborative effort between Lingo Pictures and Luminous Beast, the series is produced by Helen Bowden, Liz DiFiore, and Peter Salmon. Jason Stephens, Dianne Taylor, and Robyn Malcolm serve as executive producers.

AFTER THE PARTY will make its debut on ABC and ABC iview on Sunday, 28 April at 8:30 pm on ABC TV, with the entire series available for streaming on ABC iview.
