We all know how the first half of the week is going to play out for the rest of this season, don’t we? #OneWayTraffic

*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***

  • Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
  • Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
  • BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

Blind Freddy could have predicted that Married At First Sight (1,429,000 avg) was going to take a strong win for Nine, even though it slipped a little on last week’s ep (lw 1.496m). Australian Idol (834,000 avg) on Seven (lw 733k) maintained a strong average audience though way off MAFS’ pace, and poor old Australian Survivor (569,000 avg) on Channel 10 pushed hard however can’t keep up with its commercial rivals (and slipped a little week on week – 590k).

The Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs at 49ers (800,000 avg) held a solid audience across the five (nearly six) hours of broadcast during the day on Seven.

At 7pm the course was maintained, with all shows keeping their audiences stable week on week:
A Current Affair (1,077,000 avg) on Nine (lw 1.105m)
Home and Away (805,000 avg) on Seven (lw 848k)
The Project (340,000 avg) on 10. (lw 335k)

The ABC’s night was a big one, with the finale of excellent documentary series Nemesis (953,000 avg) (lw 947k) lifting a little for its final ep. Media Watch (732,000 avg) (lw 667k) lifted from last week’s 2024 premiere, and then Nemesis: Behind the Scenes (460,000 avg) drew in a reasonable late night audience to round out the short series.

The commercials ran their own race, with Seven delivering the premiere of The Irrational (389,000 avg) up against a resurgent(?) Big Miracles (460,000 avg) on Nine (lw 535k), with the latter easily winning the late primetime slot. Very few were interested in a repeat of FBI: Most Wanted (DNR) on 10.
