Muster Dogs sizes up the competition and elbows its way into third(?) in primetime national averages.
*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***
- Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
- Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
- BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.
PRIMETIME ANALYSIS
The second week of the commercial network’s reality strategy opened like this:
Married At First Sight (2,522,000 reach | 1,338,000 avg) on Nine
Australian Idol (1,872,000 reach | 773,000 avg) on Seven
Australian Survivor (1,081,000 reach | 553,000 avg) on 10.
As you can see, there’s no stopping MAFS (and it’s daylight to Idol, with Survivor is sort of nipping on Idol’s heels, by comparison).
The Sunday Project (852,000 reach | 295,000 avg) lifts on last week’s ep, in no small part to lesser competition (no Aus Open final).
Muster Dogs (1,171,000 reach | 721,000 avg) and the incredible ABC drama Total Control (704,000 reach | 408,000 avg) continued to draw a strong audience against the big reality programs, both up on national average on last week’s episodes.
Both Nine return its marquee public affairs program for 2024 in 60 Minutes (2,045,000 reach | 870,000 avg), while Seven deliver a later-night airing of a repackaged 7News Spotlight – Summer (781,000 reach | 340,000 avg), hidden behind Ron Iddles: The Good Cop (1,177,000 reach | 557,000 avg) and so it’s reach is significantly lower (the follow-on bubble really helped 60 Mins), and given the later hour of broadcast its national average was also lower than it could have been.
