The mid-week slump hits everybody hard, and the commercial FTA choices after their big reality shows reveal the depth (or lack of) in their programming coffers.

*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***

  • Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
  • Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
  • BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

The final big three-way of the week saw the reality tentpoles continue to deliver for their respective networks as they have all week:
Married At First Sight (2,349,000 reach | 1,236,000 avg) on Nine
Australian Idol (1,415,000 reach | 683,000 avg) on Seven
Australian Survivor (1,017,000 reach | 524,000 avg) on Channel 10

The nightly game show arm wrestle continued to get more and more interesting…
The Chase Australia (1,311,000 reach | 612,000 avg) – 5pm Seven
Tipping Point Australia (1,152,000 reach | 583,000 avg) – 5pm Nine
Deal or No Deal (490,000 reach | 293,000 avg) – 6pm 10.

After the noise at 7:30pm, all three commercial networks offered very different programming afterwards (with varying success): Season two FTA premiere (followed by S02E02) of Clarkson’s Farm (1,484,000 reach | 348,000 avg) 9:15pm on Nine; MOVIE: Uncharted (1,241,000 reach | 341,000 avg) 9pm on Seven; and a new ep of FBI: International (525,000 reach | 193,000 avg) 9pm on 10.

All of this faces a new challenger next Wednesday as the ABC fires up its comedy Wednesday offering with new eps for the first time in 2024 (and no Australian Survivor as all the reality show course-correct to start their weeks on Sunday).
