It’s a brave new world, friends…

*** NOTE: NEW METRICS AND REPORTS ***

  • Total TV Overnight Top 30 and Consolidated 7 Top 30 reach is calculated using cumulative unique audiences watching 1 min of broadcast TV and 15 sec of BVOD.
  • Total TV National audience is calculated using the audience average for the program as time-coded by the Network across 5CM and all regional markets nationally watching on broadcast TV.
  • BVOD national audience is calculated using the total number of minutes watched (multiplied by co-viewing factor) divided by the length of the program.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

It was entirely one-way traffic as the The Australian Open – Men’s Final (4,767,000 reach | 2,122,000 avg) on Nine delivered the biggest for both metrics across the evening for the first night of the new measurements…and their programming strategy of holding the schedule right through meant every eyeball gets counted.

The Second Test wrapped on Seven with an unpredicted result, seeing the West Indies bowl Australia out with 8 runs still to score early in the third session. This meant the figures for today’s final session reflect a little of the Cricket, with the rest filled with repeats of The 1% Club Australia, 7News Spotlight, and Border Force before the schedule returned as planned with a repeat of the Jimmy Barnes documentary…which explains the high reach and low average for that session:
Test Cricket: 2nd Test – Aus v WI – D4 session 2 (2,207,000 reach | 1,359,000 avg)
Test Cricket: 2nd Test – Aus v WI – D4 tea (1,592,000 reach | 1,013,000 avg)
Test Cricket: 2nd Test – Aus v WI – D4 session 3 (1,605,000 reach | 300,000 avg)

The finale of a diabolical return season for Gladiators Australia (697,000 reach | 282,000 avg) on 10 finishes as the entirety of the season that preceded it foretold. The Sunday Project (712,000 reach | 267,000) established a low bar under the new system. The only way is up!

Muster Dogs (1,110,000 reach | 692,000) performed well in the early part of the night for a welded on audience. The latest episode of the final series of ABC drama Total Control (611,000 reach | 353,000 avg) drew a reasonable(?) audience against stiff sporting competition.
