ABC welcomes the New Year with a star-studded celebration

Broadcasting live from the Sydney Opera House’s Northern Broadwalk, hosts Charlie Pickering and Zan Rowe will be joined this year by triple j Breakfast host Concetta Caristo to help see in 2024.

The festivities will kick off on ABC TV and ABC iview at 8:30pm, with a Welcome to Country followed by an exclusive preview of Muster Dogs Series 2, a behind-the-curtain look at what goes into making the best fireworks show in the world, and a special surprise from the Heeler Family!

From 9:10pm, the live music begins, getting you ready to celebrate as the clock heads towards midnight. The NYE concert will showcase the biggest names in Australian music, including Jessica Mauboy, Genesis Owusu, King Stingray, Confidence Man, Angie McMahon, Mark Seymour, Grentperez and the Queen of New Year’s Eve, Casey Donovan.

In partnership with the City of Sydney, the world-famous fireworks display will light up the city’s famous skyline, bidding a sparkling farewell to 2023 and welcoming in the New Year.

ABC’s Head of Arts, Music and Events, Kath Earle, said:

“NYE is one of our favourite nights of the year! We love working with our partners City of Sydney on our show-stopping NYE broadcast.”

“Always a night to remember, we can’t wait to celebrate with people all around the world showcasing a wonderful night of Australian music, entertainment and of course fireworks.”

The NYE 2023 concert will broadcast across the entire ABC network including ABC TV, local ABC Radio and streamed live on ABC iview and across ABC TV+iview social channels.

International audiences can also tune in to ABC Australia, and the firework displays will be audio described for the vision impaired and available on the ABC listen app. 

Your ABC NYE 2023 starts on Sunday 31 December at 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
