Great Australian Walks with Julia Zemiro sees Logie-nominated actor, presenter, and comedian Julia Zemiro invite audiences on an intimate journey exploring ten of Australia’s most stunning and historically significant walks.Â
Series One, Episode Eight: Cape Byron
This walk is set in beautiful Byron Bay, just a couple of hours south of Brisbane. Surrounded by stunning surf beaches and with a verdant hinterland of rolling hills and valleys, this 6.25km walk reveals why this town has become a magnet for the rich and famous.
Julia rubs shoulders with world champion surfers; takes in the shipwreck SS Wollongbar; learns how to feast in mother nature’s kitchen; looks for celebrities at the world-famous Wategos Beach; and ends up at the most easterly point on the Australian mainland – Byron Bay’s iconic lighthouse.Â
Using nostalgic archival footage, the series breathes life into the history behind each walk and spotlights stories that define our multicultural country: from those who have kept the fire burning at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra to those who maintain the oldest synagogue in Australia.
