Great Australian Walks with Julia Zemiro sees Logie-nominated actor, presenter, and comedian Julia Zemiro invite audiences on an intimate journey exploring ten of Australia’s most stunning and historically significant walks.

Series One, Episode Eight: Cape Byron

This walk is set in beautiful Byron Bay, just a couple of hours south of Brisbane. Surrounded by stunning surf beaches and with a verdant hinterland of rolling hills and valleys, this 6.25km walk reveals why this town has become a magnet for the rich and famous.

Julia rubs shoulders with world champion surfers; takes in the shipwreck SS Wollongbar; learns how to feast in mother nature’s kitchen; looks for celebrities at the world-famous Wategos Beach; and ends up at the most easterly point on the Australian mainland – Byron Bay’s iconic lighthouse.

Using nostalgic archival footage, the series breathes life into the history behind each walk and spotlights stories that define our multicultural country: from those who have kept the fire burning at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra to those who maintain the oldest synagogue in Australia.

Great Australian Walks With Julia Zemiro airs Thursday, 28 September at 7.30pm on SBS and SBS On Demand (10 Parts)
