Everything old is new again with Channel 10 set to announce a revival of the classic gameshow format Wheel Of Fortune.

While not yet officially confirmed, a casting call has gone out seeking Australian expats as contestants for a new series of Wheel of Fortune, to be filmed in London.

Current UK host, Graham Norton is set to present the Australian edition of the classic game which will likely air as primetime specials in 2024 on Channel 10.

The recently published casting call is targeting Australian expatriates living in the UK. Filming is slated for late November to early December in Manchester. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legal residents of the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man.

The return of Wheel Of Fortune is anticipated to be officially announced at Channel 10’s upcoming 2024 Upfronts programming event.

TV Blackbox recently revealed Channel 10 is behind a 2024 revival of the popular game show format Deal Or No Deal, that program is expected to move into a 6pm weekday timeslot as the network seeks to provide an entertaining alternative to news programming.

TV Blackbox has also previously revealed Channel 10 as the new home for a revival of classic 90’s format Gladiators.

Australia’s own Wheel of Fortune has a storied history, with its first spin in 1981. The show continued in various iterations until 2008, with presenters like Ernie Sigley, John Burgess, Tony Barber, Rob Elliott, Larry Emdur, and Tim Campbell, often joined by the iconic Adriana Xenides.

This move by Channel 10 to produce UK-based episodes seems to be in tune with the industry trend. Channel 9 has recently embarked on similar endeavours, using London based studios to film game shows Tipping Point and Jeopardy, hosted by Todd Woodbridge and Stephen Fry respectively with the former filming its pilot in the UK and the latter filming the series there. Notably, both these shows will also feature Aussie contestants.

    • Brianna Davis It is cheaper and easier to get them when the show is made in the UK. Production can more easily fit in with their schedules.

    • TV Blackbox didn’t the OS made version of It’s a knock out tank ?

Can’t imagine it being cheaper than an Australian made production in a country with a higher exchange rate and higher working conditions.

They’d use ex pat contestants surely.

Wonder if Kylie would spin up top dollar 😜
