Channel 7 looks set to return humourous reality dating series “First Dates” slated for a 2024 premiere.
The recommissioning of First Dates Australia comes after a four-season run between 2016 to 2020, before it briefly moved to Channel 10 in 2022.
Drawing its origins from a British format, First Dates Australia experienced substantial viewership during its original broadcast period on Channel 7. However, in a strategic move to rejuvenate its evening line-up, the network paused the production of the series in 2021.
Nonetheless, reruns have consistently found screen time on the network’s multi-channels.
A recent casting notice released by Warner Bros. Australia underscores the show’s unique format.
“No competition, no eliminations – just a blind date. Where it goes from there is up to you!”
In a bid to uphold the show’s authenticity, the producers are keen on roping in participants who are “genuinely looking for love.” The criterion for participation encompasses a “blind date that could be the start of [their] own happily ever after.” Singles above the age of 18 are encouraged to apply.
