Big launches for two marquee franchises that will clearly battle it out over their runs this season.
Channel 7
The Voice Australia (716,000) jumps out of the blocks with a big season 12(!) for Seven, getting pipped at the post and landing in second by the smallest of margins. 7News Spotlight (458,000) pushed a big John Farnham special which lifted them to take the win in the public affairs race. Born to Kill? (100,000) and Autopsy USA (59,000) filled out the schedule neatly. Seven brought home the network win thanks to a nail-biter penalty shoot-out that determined the winner of FIFA Women’s World Cup: SWE v USA (350,000) across 7mate/7TWO.
Seven first in both primary (23.8%) and network (39%) rankings.
Channel 9
The Block (722,000) triumphant on its season 19(!) premiere, boldly (and just) taking primetime for Nine. 60 Minutes (447,000) just slipped behind its competition to land second, before the night rolled into a repeat of Australian Crime Stories (124,000) and a new episode of The First 48 (69,000).
Nine second in both primary (22.5%) and network (29.1%) rankings.
ABC

The Beast Must Die (73,000) maintains a loyal audience, before repeats of The Newsreader (DNR) and Talking Heads (DNR) filled out the night.
ABC third in primary (8.9%) and fourth in network (12.2%) rankings.
Channel 10
The Sunday Project (166,000 6:30pm; 220,000 7pm) not performing as well as it has in past weeks as it led into the penultimate episode of Hunted Australia (344,000), which has continued its audience average for the season however could not compete with the big two launches on the other commercial networks. A repeat of Thank God You’re Here (138,000) added a bit to the week’s total while a repeat of NCIS: Hawaii (72,000) fleshed out the later schedule.
10 fourth in primary (8%) and third in network (12.8%) rankings.

Historical Sundays continued on SBS, from Colosseum (100,000) to Amazon: The Lost World (49,000), and including a repeat of Hemingway (31,000).
