It certainly took the ratings pressure down on the network, leaving their competitors going, going, gone.

Channel 7

Home & Away (556,000) get a nice bump from a massive news and huge follow-on that boost it though it still isn’t able to take the timeslot win. The John Farnham: Finding The Voice (866,000) movie proved a huge success for the network, boosting it to its biggest Monday night in months. Following, a double ep of 9-1-1: Lone Star (229,000; 124,000) bleeding into The Blacklist (42,000) keeps a much smaller, loyal audience.

Seven first in both primary (28.1%) and network (25.3%) rankings.

Channel 9

A Current Affair (662,000) manages Nine’s only timeslot win for the night, before the penultimate episode of reality underperformer Rush (239,000). The World Aquatics Championships – Finals (196,000) draw in a similarly small audience before the night split into 100% Footy (26,000 BNE/SYD) or Footy Classified (94,000 MEL/ADL/PER).

Nine second in both primary (15.8%) and network (22.6%) rankings.

ABC

7:30 (502,000) and Back Roads (455,000) pair to deliver a strong second place in primetime for the ABC, just ahead of 10. Four Corners (385,000) and Media Watch (386,000) down marginally on last week, while the return of Q+A (216,000) with new permanent host Patricia Karvelas proved to be a success on most of the year. A repeat of The Beast Must Die (27,000) closed out the night.

ABC third in primary (13%) and fourth in network (16.5%) rankings.

Channel 10

10 swung for the fences with their Monday night line-up, which saw The Project (201,000 6:30pm; 313,000 7pm) deliver what will be its best for the week ahead of Hunted Australia (451,000), which picked up on Sunday night’s low. Have You Been Paying Attention? (500,000) also down marginally though still consistently strong. Just For Laughs Australia (180,000) and a repeat of FBI: Most Wanted (80,000) fill out the later night with more noise than others.

10 fourth in primary (12.9%) and third network (18.9%) rankings.

SBS

A tighter night for SBS, with Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes (57,000), The Great House Revival (64,000), and 24 Hours In Emergency (88,000) all doing similar-though-small numbers.

SBS fifth in both primary (3.3%) and network (6.6%) rankings.

KEY DEMOS

16-39: Have You Been Paying Attention? (132,000) led Hunted Australia, Seven News 6pm/6:30pm, and Nine News 6:30pm.

  1. Fantastic documentary about John Farnham what a living legend he really is.😜👍🏻👍🏻

  2. Johnny Farnham is the absolute best Australia has ever had ! I’ve been supporting him since the days of Sadie and Bandstand and also Ronnie Burns ,

  3. Many years ago we went to his concert. Was able to go back stage. He came out exhausted but still had time for a chat and a cuddle and birthday wishes for my husband. We had a bit of a walk back to the car. A car pulled up behind us… yep John and his entourage offering a lift back to our car. You stole my heart…

  4. Yes, Sadie was first hit, the nearly destroy part was the media. At his concert, he did not want to sing it, but when he did, the whole audience sang along with him.

  5. I think this doco comes at a great time for John. If he had any doubts on how much he is held in high esteem in this country he should now know “WE LOVE YOU JOHN FARNHAM” ❤. Continued healing lovely man

  6. It takes a docco to remind me how great he was. I never stopped loving him, I just forgot about him and his uplifting music.

  7. Loved this so much, can’t stop playing his music it’s stuck in my brain👏🏻🥰

  8. Went to see the movie at the cinema only a hand full of people there however we all loved it and we all had a chat after the movie John you are so talented and thanks for each and everyone of your songs love always finds a way stay strong

  11. Australia loves John Farnham ive watched this documentary 4 times now what a great story the struggles John and Jill went through, and then the deaths of Glenn Wheatley and Olivia so sad all the music it’s just like reliving my youth every song brought back a memory I loved it so much ❤️ keep getting better John we love you ❤️ 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

  12. john was a good sport – he did a guest appearance as a would-be crim in Division $- a bit of a satire in which he played a suitor who had to rob a small business to win a man’s daughters hand in marriage – later he was in a variety special with ted hamilton and the pair did a spoof of the show after ted had been sacked for doing a tv commercial (ardath cigarettes?) without permission from crawfords

  13. Great show loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️

  14. Loved the documentary, your music is fantastic, your voice is beautiful. Sadie was and is an iconic song, one that whenever I am down, always lifts my spirits. I have been to several of your concerts where you didn’t sing Sadie and was so disappointed then went to one in WA where again I thought you wouldn’t sing it. When you did, every single person joined in with you, the noise was deafening , I thought the marquee was going to collapse. I have never seen such a crowd in an euphoric mood, it was electric and I for one was on a high for weeks afterwards. I love all your music but Sadie will always hold a special place in my heart. Keep on getting better John, we are all behind you 100 %. 🤩🤩

  15. Bought back many memories about John and also the music that was around from the 60s to the latest.

  16. Geez he was ‘hot’ and might I add, still is!! 😍 Love your music, keep travelling that road to recovery 🥰
